Friends reach out to ask about recommendations for Boston and Cambridge, and this is the list I complied with favorite things in the city. I will keep updating it!

Boston/Cambridge (for new visitors):

  • The Boston Common — walk around the frog pond
  • Newbury Street for outdoor shopping
  • Freedom Trail for history
  • MIT Museum (Arthur Ganson’s kinetic sculpture’s exhibition is incredible)
  • Mount Auburn Cemetery for beautiful nature and some serenity
  • Harvard Square(including the Harvard Book store)
  • Charles River for a walk from JFK to Anderson footbridge (great views of Harvard campus)

Food:

  • Oleana (Turkish/Middle Eastern cuisine)
  • Barcelona Wine Bar (tapas shaped by Mediterranean, Spanish, and South American influence)
  • Beehive Restaurant (Live Jazz music and a fun vibe)
  • Giacomo’s or the Daily Catch in the North End for a great Italian dinner
  • Little Donkey for brunch
  • Daedalus for outdoor-patio drinks and brunch
  • Henrietta’s Table for a New England brunch
  • LA Burdick’s for hot chocolate (dark, milk, white)
  • Berryline for frozen yogurt

Stuff

  • The Red Room, for intimate music performances
  • The New Repertory Theatre, for a small-size regional theatre.

Day trips

  • Middlesex Fells for in-town hiking
  • Rockport (beautiful nature)

Weekend trips:

  • Cape Cod
  • Green Mountains (Vermont)
